Visiting Artists Series: Blue Tribe is proud to host visiting artist Bekaye Kouyate, a master drummer from Mali.  In March and April, Bekaye will be teaching the following classes in African Djembe and Dunun Drumming:

Intensive Workshops in African (Dunun) Drumming w/ Bekaye
SAT, April 10     11-1pm
SAT, April 24       4-6pm
  $25 per class, with opportunity to perform at the Blue Tribe Show April 30 and May 1 at the Harwood Art Center

Visiting Artists Series: Jennifer Sarudzai Kyker, a Fulbright Scholar of Zimbabwe, is Blue Tribe's newest artist in residence.  She will be in the area and teaching for several months.  Jennifer is sharing her in-depth knowledge of Zimbabwean Music through classes in Marimba, Mbira and Song.

Marimba
SUNDAYS:
3-5pm (Beginners)
5:15-7:15pm (Intermediate)
  Cost:  5 classes for $100

Mbira
Beginners - group class will meet once a week (Call for Class Times)
  Cost:  5 classes for $100
Intermediate/Advanced (Call to arrange for privates)
$100 for 4 private lessons, cost will include a study group, meeting at least once every other week

Song
TUESDAYS  (call 505-247-1246 for location) 7:30-8:30pm
  Cost:  $12 drop-in, or 5 classes for $50
followed by Shona Language Class, 8:30-9pm

Zimbabwean Dance Intensive Weekend Workshops

Join Blue Tribe’s native Zimbabwean teacher, Rujeko Dumbutshena, for a series of Intensive Weekend Workshops in Zimbabwean Dance.

There is only one weekend left in the Series:  April 17-18 ("Mafue" and Mbira dance)
The intensives will culminate in a show at Albuquerque's Harwood Art Center Friday and Saturday Evenings, April 30 and May 1
As a participant in the workshops, you will have an opportunity to perform in a the show. Please call 505-489-0144 for details.

Taught by Resident Instructor Heidi Alina,
these classes focus on Zimbabwean and West-African hand-drumming and dunun.

Blue Tribe is also hosting Bekaye Kouyate, a Master Drummer from Mali, as a guest instructor in March/April.
